Europa Biosite Sustainability 2024: Building on Progress and Embracing the Future

As we reflect on 2024, Europa Biosite continues its dedicated journey toward sustainability, building on the advancements shared in our 2023 report and setting ambitious goals for 2025 and beyond. Our group remains committed to sustainability across Europe and has actively contributed to positive change in the life sciences sector.

A United Front for Sustainability

In 2024, the Europa Biosite Group consisted of six distribution companies: Biomol, Cambridge Bioscience, Nordic Biosite, Sanbio, LubioScience, and SZABO-SCANDIC. The newest member, AMSBIO, joined only at the end of the year and is not covered in this report. Together, we leverage shared values, processes, and expertise to reduce environmental impacts, improve social responsibility, and uphold the highest ethical standards throughout our operations and value chain.

Collective efforts include group-wide initiatives such as transitioning to renewable energy, adopting sustainable packaging, and supporting colleagues with workplace well-being programs.

Strengthening Sustainability Governance and Strategy

2024 marked the completion of Europa Biosite’s first comprehensive double materiality assessment. Guided by insights from all group members, this process clarified that our most significant impacts lie upstream in product manufacturing and transportation. This shared understanding has been pivotal in shaping a group-wide sustainability strategy, slated for adoption in 2025, and ensures best practices are implemented across all subsidiaries, adapted to their local contexts.

The governance framework has been enhanced by coordinated policies such as the Supplier Code of Conduct and anti-corruption measures, which unify responsible business practices while allowing the flexibility required for diverse regional environments.

Advancing Environmental Performance Together

Recognizing that a significant portion of our climate footprint stems from upstream activities, all group members have contributed to improving data transparency and reducing emissions. Actions include sourcing more renewable energy, promoting eco-friendly logistics and packaging, and continually seeking ways to reduce single-use plastics and optimize transport planning. These efforts translate shared sustainability goals into meaningful local actions and measurable progress.

Social Responsibility and Employee Well-being

Employee engagement, inclusion, and well-being continue to be at the heart of our sustainability work across Europa Biosite. Initiatives such as wellness programs and skills development, along with workplace enhancements, help foster a culture where people feel safe, valued, and empowered to contribute.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Our journey continues with a shared vision. In 2025, the group is focusing on implementing the new sustainability strategy, increasing supply chain transparency, expanding responsible sourcing, and strengthening employee engagement, while continuing to deliver exceptional service to the life science community across all markets.

As part of Europa Biosite, all group members, including SZABO-SCANDIC, are proud to help drive positive impacts for our customers, communities, and the planet.
